Crappy Winter
So far, this has been the crappiest winter we’ve ever had in terms of getting sick. In just this year alone, here’s how we stand as a family:
Me: 2 (mostly coughing and congestion)
Jes: 3 (fever, coughing, congestion, stomach problems)
Peanut:2 (coughing, congestion, stomach bug)
KK: 2 (fever, coughing, stomach bug, ear infection, possible pink eye)
And it’s only mid-February!!! Each illness seems to last longer than usual too. Both kids have been prescribed a 10-day course of antibiotics and albuterol. This is a first for KK, which means it must be bad. I suppose it has much to do with being in Preschool. Her teacher says that the class size is smaller this week because so many kids have been home sick.
On top of all this, Mirian and her daughter have also been sick, which complicates things even more. For example, last night, she texted to say that she has an ear ache and it was getting worse. So, I’m home with Peanut today again. She already called in sick because of a fever a couple weeks ago. At this rate, I should just work Part Time.
Year of the Monkey
On the eve of the Lunar New Year, we met up with the usual people for dim sum at Yank Sing again. I tried to get a photo of Jack’s missing teeth but he wouldn’t smile for me. I guess he’s getting too old to humor his Auntie Beak nowadays.
We have grown to a party of 12 including the littlest guy sitting in a highchair.
Here are all 6 kids together. It’s much less organized than last year’s photo but I guess it’s just how it is right now.
This is last year’s photo. I should have stuck my belly in the photo since Peanut was there but still cookin’.
Here’s one from 2013 when Isla was still cookin’ (belly on the left). It’s funny how similar KK looks to Peanut in this photo.
In 2014, we didn’t get a photo because we had dinner at Michelle and Ryan’s house that year. Too bad…this is becoming an annual photo similar to our camping ones. Love it.
Super Bowl 2016
Super Bowl 50 arrived in SF and luckily we weren’t too inconvenienced by it.
Last weekend, we checked out Super Bowl City located across from the Ferry Plaza. There was a security screening at each entrance and we got there early enough to have a very short wait.
We stopped at the City Stage where a youth group performed their dance routines for everyone.
On the Friday of Super Bowl Weekend, we went to the Ferry Plaza to check out Puppy Bowl, which was set-up in the Gott’s Roadside patio.
All the puppies were so cute and were all up for adoption starting on the Monday following the big game. Too bad we’re not in the market for a new doggie. I wanted to take them all home.
We also hung out across from Super Bowl City where it was at capacity as people packed themselves in to watch One Republic. It was still another hour before they would go on stage so there was a DJ spinning and it sounded and looked like one big club out there. It was a mild evening and the excitement and buzz around that area was pretty cool. The funny part of it all was that at least half of the people out there had kids and strollers with them. We were certainly not out of place there with our two kids each in a stroller that night.
On Super Bowl Sunday, we stayed home to watch the game since our antenna picks up CBS. Hooray for free live TV!
Jes even made buffalo wings and even Peanut got to enjoy his own celery stick.
