Last year I bought a grape hyacinth from Trader Joe’s and when it died off, I wrapped up the bulbs in a paper towel and foil and stored it in the fridge in a Ziploc bag.  A couple days ago, I took it out of the bag and found some shoots coming out of them.  They were pale yellow but healthy-looking.

I put them in a small pot with some soil on Valentine’s Day and two days later, the leaves turned green and I’ve got a bud!!  Can you see it peeking out?!  This is so exciting!  I can already feel my thumb becoming a little less purple.
