Moonlighting

My first real OT job was at PTN and somehow I can’t seem to shake them. It’s been almost 2 years since I officially left and they seem to keep reeling me back in. Just last month I did some moonlighting and accrued about 12 hours doing two assessments for my boss. I’m also running Camp again for the 4th summer in a row, which will bring in August income. Since I’m off this week, I thought I’d log some hours in Torrance and carpooled with my old Irvine carpool friend just like old times. It’s so nice to go back once in a while. Since I started Irvine, I’ve been lacking the constant mentorship and support that I was so accustomed to. Whenever I go back I get refueled and bombarded with a new outlook on my at-the-moment crummy job. I guess it’s good to know that I’ll always have a job to fall back on if I decide that IUSD is not for me.

On a side note…I still got home in time to get in a 3-miler with the dog. I feel like I’m getting my legs back and the dog is doing rather well himself. I also convinced the brother to sign up for the 5K that Jes and I are running in May. Hopefully training for it will be a good distraction and outlet for him. We may try some surfing lessons together too…maybe.

Spring Break!

I am officially on Spring Break today and it was very pleasant. I woke up a little later than usual today, made some coffee, and sat down for a bowl of cereal with Jes before he had to leave. Afterwards, I ran some important errands, grabbed lunch, and went back home to work on Holly’s Bridal Shower invitations. Meanwhile, I got to catch up on episodes of “Days of Our Lives” that have piled up on the TiVo. Only 13 more episodes to go!! It’s great being on vacation!

Target’s closed

…just for today. It’s Easter!
On Saturday, we went up to check out Johnny’s new studio that is actually around the corner from our old Colby apt in West LA. The building is only 4 years old with new appliances and has nice little nooks that make a studio feel more like a 1-bedroom. The parents helped bring up his bed and we handed down our TV and set of livingroom tables. The brother’s been a little down in the dumps lately but I’m hoping this new apartment and his relatively new job will bring him new adventures and perk him right up.

still experimenting

I’m stilling learning the differences between Firefox and MSIE. If you use MSIE, you’ll notice that this site doesn’t work very well. If you use Firefox, it may look a lot closer to what I intended. As you can see, I’ve changed the blog a bit…added some new features such as categories, a calendar, a thumbnail of my latest photoblog, and different format. I feel like such a newbie. I barely understand php and mysql looks so foreign to me. Thank you for your patience.

testing

woof wooftesting 1, 2 , 3. trying to see if switching from blogger to wordpress is worth it.

so tired…

Since I no longer have access to Blogger at work, I thought I’d try the e-mail feature.

Anyway, we went for a short 3-mile run yesterday and nearly died…not really…but I felt pretty crappy. From the very start it was like running with 20 extra pounds on my legs and I got lightheaded at 2.3 miles that I had to just walk home. Boo…perhaps the bike ride the day before shocked my legs. All I know is that it’s taxing for me just to walk from my car to my portable. Pretty pathetic.

T-minus 2 hours before Spring Break starts!! The kids have a minimum day today and leave at 10:45. Awesome.
