Disneyland 2016

IMG_4659

We went to Disneyland again on Christmas Eve!

I’d have to say that Peanut had the most fun out of all of us. He loves music and everywhere you go in the park there’s something to dance or clap along to.

We had some really nice weather complete with blue skies and puffy white clouds.

IMG_9900

On this year’s trip, Jes and I got some bits of alone time too. While the kids watched the parade, we used our Fast Passes and went on Indiana Jones and went up the treehouse too. Check out the view from the top!

IMG_0554

KK loves the rocket ship ride and we managed to squish all three of us in one rocket.

IMG_9930

Here’s the view from the ride.

IMG_9948

Disneyland at night is already pretty magical but it’s even more so during Christmas time. This is Sleeping Beauty’s Castle (above) and It’s a Small World (below).

IMG_9970

At about 8:30 pm, the kids were asleep and my parents were tired. So, we drove them back home, tucked the kids in, and then went back to the park for another two hours to ourselves. We rode all the fast rides and got to walk around without a baby bag or stroller. Ah…I felt so light!

IMG_9974

It was a nice way to end the day at the Merriest Place on Earth.

IMG_9975

Oh and I also got a churro on our way out and I didn’t have to share it with anyone. Yesh!!!

Oahu 2016

IMG_8495

Ah…Hawaii…this year’s trip was just days after Thanksgiving. The flight went as well as it could with a squirmy 15-month-old without his own seat.

IMG_8504

He took two naps and played in the aisle after the meal service was over.

IMG_8534

We hung out with Yoon and the family a lot more this time around. On our first night, they met up with us for dinner so we could borrow their pack-n-play and other essentials.

IMG_8559

I just love staying at the Sheraton Waikiki. It makes those early-morning wake-up calls from the kids so much more bearable. Just look at that sunrise!!!

IMG_8585

The Tsaos were on the same exact trip this time around – including same flights and same hotel. The girls had such a great time together.

IMG_8664

This little guy had the time of his life too. He love the pool, the sand, and even the ocean!

IMG_8921

IMG_8889

These two are my favorites from the trip. The top one will definitely be Christmas-card worthy. The bottom one is gonna get blown up and put up on the wall at home.

IMG_8734

On one of the days, we visited Aulani and the lagoon/beach that is open to the public.

IMG_8759

We found the Stitch statue and the kids had fun wandering the grounds.

IMG_8757

For lunch, we ate at the resort and Janie’s kid’s meal came with an ice cream sundae with Mickey Mouse sprinkles!!

DCIM100GOPRO

We spent a lot of time at our own pool and caught some really sunny days along with a few passing rain clouds too.

DCIM100GOPRO

During this trip, KK conquered her fear of putting her face underwater. By the end of the trip, she was floating around with her ears submerged and playing in the shallow pool without her floaties.

IMG_8777

Speaking of poolside, it was nice to have an old friend to hang out with while the kids napped. We had our fair share of mai tais and other rummy drinks.

IMG_9203

IMG_9252

This one was a diy drink compliments of Ranee. It was our last day at the pool and SOMEONE had to help her finish off the rum they had bought at the store.

IMG_8967

Here’s another one of my Mai Tai photos along the way. It included a watermelon-grubbin’ cherub in the background.

IMG_9187We discovered a new pork joint next to Leonard’s. It’s called Kono’s. Their original one is on North Shore and they recently opened one in Waikiki. Jes said it was the best pork sandwich he’s had in a long time.

IMG_9005

The kids ate well on this trip too. Peanut and I went to Marukame Udon three mornings that week to pick up breakfast.

IMG_9087

KK LOVED the Spam musubi and finally started eating the whole thing. In past trips, she would eat the Spam and hand back the rice and seaweed. This time, she would wake up and ask “can I have sushi for breakfast?”

IMG_9260

The girls also had plenty of Baskin-Robbins this week. There’s a store in the hotel and it was the perfect treat for new accomplishments at the pool and in the ocean.

IMG_9659

On our last night in Hawaii, we went on a trolley ride through downtown to see the City Lights.

IMG_9275

It was a fun ride through town with Christmas music blasting along the way.

IMG_8968

I also bought these outfits for the kids at the ABC Store. I couldn’t resist.

IMG_9340

We had another fun vacation at our Hawaii House and it’s always sad to say “see you later”.

IMG_9358

As usual, we said “aloha” to Yoon and Kurt on our way to the airport. We did our drive-by at their office to drop off their stuff and give one last hug.

DCIM100GOPRO

I’m so happy that we were able to continue our annual trip to Hawaii and we made some more memories as a family. This is what keeps me going to work every day.

IMG_9371

P.S. Hawaiian Airlines has a new line of cocktails and this one is pretty dope.

P.S.S. Peanut got compliments on our flight home. WIN!!

S’mores Party

img_6468

This year, instead of having McWino Night for my birthday, I reserved two picnic tables and a fire pit at SPARK Social SF. We loaded up on food truck food and sangrias before our tasty treat.

img_6477

The tables were free and the fire pit was only $30 for an hour, which included all the marshmallows, chocolate, graham crackers, and sticks you would need for some a tasty s’mores party.

img_6518

It was also fun to see the kids playing together. I love how they are growing up together.

img_6478

The fire pit had just the right amount of heat to roast the marshmallows and KK had a blast roasting and eating her marshmallows straight off the stick.

img_6515

img_6513

It was so nice to have the girls together outside of work. It’s been rather stressful there lately and we just needed some time away to vent and hang out like old times.

img_6514

After the party was over, we walked home with a souvenir stick with two marshmallows saved for later. I considered it my birthday balloon to take home. 🙂

Happy Birthday to ME!!!

I’m 41.

img_6284

I had a lovely 41st birthday celebration. It started the day before when Jes and KK came home with these pretty flowers for me.  They walk by a flower shop on the way home from school everyday and KK loves to go inside the refrigerated room to pick them out.

img_6302

This morning, Peanut woke up bright and early at 6am to greet me as I brushed my teeth.

img_6321

After dropping KK off at school and sending Peanut off to the park with Mimi, Jes finished up his morning calls and then we went to lunch at Chez Panisse in Berkeley.

img_6328

The last time we ate here was right before KK was born. It was nice to have a grown-up meal without interruptions or picking up food off the floor. I had a tasty beet and tomato salad with fried capers and the house-made rigatoni with chanterelle mushroom ragu.

img_6327

We also had dessert, which was bourbon-pecan ice cream with gingersnap cookies. Perfect.

img_6348

For dinner, I opted to stay in so we brought home pizza from Amici’s and picked up an Oreo ice cream log from Safeway.

img_6349

It was more for KK because she was telling us the night before how excited she was for my birthday and that we were going to blow out the candle. So, that’s what we did. Couldn’t disappoint the 4-year-old, y’know.

img_6370

It was nice to have the day off for my birthday and this may be a new tradition from here on out.

img_6301

I also ordered my birthday gift a couple weeks ago and it should be arriving in another 2-3 weeks. Can’t wait to play with it!

Just Mamas Mother’s Day Celebration

IMG_1079

This year, Ranee and I decided to plan our own day of fun. We made arrangements to have the husbands watch the kids and invited Ishya too. The three of us met up at Rockridge BART Station and headed out for a morning and early afternoon of girl time. We called it our First Annual Just Mamas Mother’s Day Celebration. First stop was Bourbon and Beef where we bought a Groupon that gave us $40 worth of food and drinks for only $16!!! Ranee’s superpower is finding the best deals on booze (and food)!

IMG_1077

I already had breakfast in the morning so I had two glasses of prosecco and so did Ranee. Cousin had a massive french toast.

IMG_1053

Look at this bill! It was $40 even!! Totally unplanned but worked out perfectly!

IMG_1057

The next stop was Southie for lunch. We shared a carafe of wine and I had a tasty pork belly sandwich packed with a jalapeno slaw.

IMG_1061

It was so nice to walk into a tiny restaurant and not have to ask for a highchair or worry about what to order for the kids. I also didn’t have to share any of my food today. The best part was having an uninterrupted conversation with my girls.

IMG_1062

Next stop was Philz Coffee for Ishya and Safeway for something tasty to drink for Ranee and I.

IMG_1082

We took our roadies to the nail spa across the street and had a great time.

IMG_1064

This bubbly pear and apple drink was perfect for the occasion.

IMG_1065

There were plenty of giggles between the three of us.

IMG_1083  IMG_1089

We had so much fun that we were already making plans for our next outing together.

IMG_1068

What a fun Mother’s Day Eve outing! Thanks to Jes, Jamie, and Billy’s parents for giving us these precious 4 hours of fun!!
