11 years

IMG_6688 We celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary this evening by having a tasty steak dinner and bringing our little girl with us.  Kumquat came along this year and it was certainly the shortest and cheapest anniversary dinner we’ve ever had.  We usually go out for a drawn out multi-course dinner at a fancy restaurant but not this year.  I suppose we’ve had 10 good years to ourselves and now it’s the beginning of a new chapter in our marriage.  Besides, I can’t think of a more fitting way to kick off the next chapter than to have a little person clinking her sippy cup to our wine glasses!!  On top of that, Kumquat is such a good little diner and she adds a little extra something to the mix when we go out nowadays.

IMG_0610And here I am making fun of her.

Happy Anniversary, Jes!  The next few years will be quite an adventure and there’s no one else I’d rather have by my side.  Love you!

Saturday

IMG_6398On Saturday morning, I went for a run and went to the Farmers’ Market with Kumquat.  It had been at least a month since I had gone and it was nice to be back.  Kumquat got to run around a bit and of course, tasted lots of fruit.  This picture looks like she has secret service watching after her.  After picking up some pluots, pears, and persimmons, we went to Hog Island for a tasty lunch.  IMG_6410Ah…what a delicious feast.  I had the gem lettuce salad, kumamoto oysters, baked oysters, and my favorite clam chowder.

IMG_6437 IMG_6440After Kumquat’s nap, we headed down to Redwood City to check out Jason and Jia’s new place.  We brought them a big box of fancy sparkling water and we said “cheers!”IMG_6433They moved last weekend and it’s a bigger, less expensive place with plenty of parking.  It looks like everyone has made themselves pretty comfy there already and I was a good lounge chair that evening.IMG_6461For dinner, we went to La Viga and they had pretty good seafood.  Kumquat seemed to enjoy the chips and habanero salsa.  I’m amazed that she can tolerate so much heat!  It’s the combination of Thai blood and her dad’s tastebuds I guess.

Happy Hour and Highchairs

IMG_6099I had the day off today because I have to work on Saturday.  After Kumquat’s nap, we headed out to Golden Gate Park for a 4-mile run with Ranee and Sophie.  After the run and a little playtime at the park, we went to Pa’ina for a little HH.  Before heading out, Ranee called the restaurant to ask two things:

1. What time is Happy Hour?

2. Do you have highchairs?

IMG_6189Haha.  That’s how two hardworking moms do it.  The kalua pork and cheese fries, poke and COCKTAILS were awesome.  I love random days off.

IMG_6184This girls were pretty cute too with their pretend phones.

Mac&Cheese Bites

IMG_5933This was a really easy toddler recipe that I put together last night.  I prepared two boxes of Annie’s Organic Shells and Cheddar and added some frozen peas and corn.  After making a bowl for Kumquat’s dinner and packing away a portion for her lunch the next day, I still had plenty to store.  I sprayed a muffin tin and scooped the pasta into the wells.  Then I covered the tray with foil and put it in the freezer.  This morning, I took out the tray and wiggled the cups out.  They all went into a Ziploc bag and they’re ready to eat another day.  Aren’t they cute?!

Birthday Weekend

IMG_8624 I had a pretty good birthday.  Turning a year older is so much easier when you’re surrounded by the people who love you.IMG_8628The celebration started on Friday, my birthday eve, with a dinner at La Briciola with Jason and Jia.

IMG_5323On the morning of my birthday, we woke up early to catch a flight to LAX.  The flight was full but we got to LA in one piece.  My mom picked up my favorite treat and I was so happy.

After the baby shower, we went back to the Magical House to rest.  Then it was dinnertime!!!  IMG_8639IMG_8645

IMG_8648We went to Lawry’s for our favorite prime rib meal and it did not disappoint.  IMG_2336The last time Brother and I celebrated our birthdays there was in 2010 and it was good to be back.

Birthday Treats

On my 38th birthday, I was lucky enough to have 5 different birthday treats.

IMG_5288The first one was at work where I got a tasty lemon tart, ice cream, and warm chocolate chip cookies.  Thanks, Patty!

IMG_5299Later that evening, we had dinner at La Briciola and the restaurant brought out a tiramisu for me.

IMG_5368The next was on my actual birthday.  Joy had bought a triple berry cake from a place in Manhattan Beach opened by a baker who used to work for Sweet Lady Jane.

IMG_5445On Sunday, I had brunch with Holly and she brought me a chestnut cake from Paris Baguette, which was basically a pastry with a crossaint crust and a tasty cake baked on top.  She also brought candles but didn’t have enough room for all the letters of “Happy Birthday” so I got the I, T, and R.

IMG_5446Then that evening we had dinner with Jes’ parents and I got a strawberry cake that tasted like fresh strawberries.  Kumquat wanted a piece for herself that night.
