Married!! Woo!

Married!

Brother got married today and I gained a little sister.  At 8:45 am there was a light sprinkle and then the sun peeked out at 8:55.  We got the ceremony started and the ceremony was over by 9:05.  It was short but very sweet.  It was also one of the most intimate weddings I’ve ever attended (almost 40 guests) and it was perfect.  Joy looked stunning and Brother was a ball of excitement.  In fact, he couldn’t sleep very well the night before and decided to start his day at 4:30 am.

We spent 9:05-10:00 am taking photos with the sun shining bright.  Then, at exactly 10:00 am, it began to rain and it was just in time for Brunch to begin.  Nice timing!  My mom said she prayed for some sun until 10 and she got it!

Brunch

Brunch was inside The Veranda, overlooking the ocean, and was complete with mimosas, eggs benedict, and just about every breakfast item you could imagine.  I gave a stirring speech that managed to get Brother teary-eyed along with my cousins sitting in the corner of the room.

Family

This is certainly a happy day for us Chimmys and Chammys.  🙂 Yay!

38 Days to Go!

Brother and Joy are getting married in just over a month. Things are getting finalized and we’re all excited about going to Hawaii as one big happy family. Here’s their wedding blog: thaiddown.com. Get it?! Ha!

Surprise for Mommy

This past weekend I flew home to Cerritos to surprise my mom for her 60th birthday.  On Friday, Brother picked me up from the airport, took me out for dinner and drinks, and then surprised (and woke up) my mom at about 11:00 pm.

On Saturday, we went to the Cerritos Library to check out the ballroom on the top floor.  It’s the site of Brother and Joy’s wedding reception and I got to see the dinosaur in the Children’s section.

Afterwards we went to Costco to buy some really fancy disposable plates and utensils for the reception.  Later that evening we had dinner with Marie and the rest of the family.

Overall, it was a fun and relaxing weekend with the family.  I had a little cold so it was nice to be able to sleep in and not have to worry about walking the dog.

It almost broke.

Rob and Kelly had a photobooth at their wedding and the boys had a little too much fun.  They crammed about 7 of them inside and the booth couldn’t really handle all the shoving and rocking.  You can see their reaction to the booth almost collapsing in the fourth photo.  I love the looks on Jes’ and Victor’s faces.  The poor dude that built the booth had to repair it for the next 30 minutes.

Here are photos from the weekend (and wedding).

Robert & Kelly’s Wedding

Robert and Kelly got married yesterday in Newport Beach and it was a beautiful and emotional outdoor ceremony followed by an indoor reception complete with an open bar and dancing. Everything was covered in pink and white with touches of brown everywhere.  Gorgeous.  Unfortunately, I wasn’t sitting in the best seat for taking photos during the ceremony so I actually didn’t take as many as I would have liked.  However, once I decided to put the camera down for the night, I was able to enjoy the event as a guest and not as a roving photog, which was a nice change.

The reception had lots of bells and whistles including a photobooth (that the boys almost broke when they crammed everyone in at once), chocolate covered strawberries, and a wedding cake with two tiny Star Wars figurines on top.  Victor’s Best Man speech went well and resulted in Robert showing off his Rubik’s Cube skills in front of all the guests.

It was so nice to not only be outside in the warm Southern California evening but to also be surrounded by old friends as well.  I also got to meet little Elise, Ti and Thilan’s 2-month-old baby girl.  Unfortunately, she cried everytime I held her.  Boo…  The evening was a hoot and we even finished it off with a trip to Denny’s.
