Project by Project SF Kickoff

Press Club

On Tuesday (10/20), Project by Project SF had their Kickoff Event at Press Club.  It’s a brand-new chapter for the organization and they were hoping to raise some money and gain some awareness. There was a raffle, plenty of wines to taste, and lots of people who had RSVP’d through Facebook.

Susie asked me to be one of their photographers for the evening.  I had the 5:30-7:30 shift, which was much slower than the later shift so my photos are mostly of the venue and people registering…<sarcasm>pretty exciting stuff</sarcasm>.  Having the early shift was actually nice because I got to hang out with friends once they arrived at a timely 8:00 pm.  Press Club was nice enough to give us full roam of the place and it was bumpin’ by 8:30 pm.  I have a feeling they’re usually not this crowded on a Tuesday night.

Here are the rest of the photos from the event.  And here are some cheesy snap shots we took at the end of the night in front of the big PbP banner.

If the turnout for the Kickoff was this big, I can’t imagine how crazy the but Plate by Plate Fundraiser will be like next summer.

Yay Eleen!

My friend Eleen is doing so many exciting things lately and this is probably one of the coolest so far.  She was asked to submit an article about her DIY Wedding on Etsy and it was published yesterday!

When she asked to use some of my photos I had no idea it was for this and I’m so honored to be a part of it!  As soon as it was posted, my smugmug portfolio has been getting a ton of new hits from all over the world.  It’s a little creepy but really cool at the same time.  Anyway, I’m still in love with my eleen bags and can’t wait to buy another one.

Check out all her cute products on her Etsy shop or at the next craft fair.  Go to eleen.com for updates on her next whereabouts.

Charlie’s 1st Birthday Party – October 18, 2008

Last Saturday I had the pleasure of photographing Charlie’s 1st birthday party.  Charlie is actually little Jack’s nanny buddy and his mom hired me to shoot photos of his special day.  There were little kids all over the place and the community room was a great venue.

Amy and David’s family were in town just for this event and they were all so nice.

Charlie is quite the cutie and loves the camera.  It certainly makes my life easier when the star of the event is also a ham.

Charlie also donned a hanbok, which is the traditional Korean outfit worn on special occasions like this one.  He was quite a little trooper with so many layers on him.

Here’s a photo of Charlie, Jack, their mommies, and their favorite nanny.  Cute.

Happy 1st Birthday, Charlie! And thanks for having me at your party!

Here are the photos.

Post-processing is done!

Done with the post-processing for Krista and Jim’s Wedding!! The photos are uploaded and ready to go. I’m pretty nervous about their response(s) to the photos. I did my best with the conditions they gave me and hopefully they will be pleased.

I also got through the photos for the bridal shower I went to that very same day. It was for a co-worker/friend of mine and it was neat hanging out with everyone from work in a different setting.  She LOVES cupcakes so I picked up some very fancy cupcakes from Teacakes, which happens to be owned by friends of my friends who went to Cal.  What a small world.

Saturday was my debut and I think it went just fine. The wedding took place in Rossmore (a part of Walnut Creek) at the community clubhouse. Everyone was so nice to me and the bride and groom had such a great time.

I arrived pretty early to scope out the joint and left about 4 hours later completely exhausted. It’s really tough to cover a wedding alone but it definitely helped to have two cameras handy. Thanks, Michelle! The mix of lenses and my flash were awesome and I now know that the two lenses I’ve had on my wishlist for a while are really worth getting after all. I had some challenges such as high noon lighting, teal green walls inside the dressing room, and a non-traditional arrangement of the ceremony but in the end I think I managed to handle it all just fine. By the way, I took this group photo from the second story window. Not bad for a girl with no ladder, eh?! Now it’s time to sit down and sort/edit the photos to my liking. I hope I can get through them all this week.

UPDATE: Photos are done and now ready for viewing.  Password is DAWSON.
