Alice

IMG_2462On Sunday, I took some portraits of little Alice.  DSC_3768I caught this one while she was napping.

DSC_3772When she woke up, Joy handed her over to me and started out a little fussy.  Then I got her in the zone and she was able to hang out on the dining table for a quick photo shoot.  Here’s what I got in just 10 minutes.

Sophie’s Family

DSC_2560Sophie recently turned 18 months old so we went on a photo excursion to Chrissy Field for some family portraits.  It’s was cold and cloudy but it made it super easy for photo-taking.  Sophie did a great job and her parents did a pretty good job themselves.  😉

DSC_2582Next stop was The Embarcadero.  It got warmer out there and the sun actually started to come out.

DSC_2699Here’s my attempt at recreating Sophie and Jamie’s engagement photo with Sophie included.DSC_2679Here’s the original photo. It’s not quite the same angle but it was the best we could do.

And now for some cute outtakes.  Sophie loved showing off her tummy and I couldn’t resist snapping a few.

DSC_2789Maybe Ranee can frame it next to her one of her preggo portraits that I took a couple years ago.DSC_2798I had so much fun.  Hope you guys like the photos!!

Baby Vivian

DSC_2292This morning after a 4-mile run with Ranee, I stopped at Stephanie’s house to take some portraits.  Vivian is about 10 days old now and I got some photos taken of her with her parents.

DSC_2247DSC_2249I also got a photo of her with her Pittsburgh Steelers beanie and “terrible towel”. What a cutie pie.

In the studio…

renee_2On Sunday afternoon, I met up with my co-worker, Renee, for our second photoshoot.  I guess she loved the photos from two years ago so much that she wanted to take more this year.

renee_1This time she rented out a dance studio in the Mission for two hours and it was a gorgeous space filled with lots of natural light and had vaulted ceilings.

renee_3I rented a strobe kit for the shoot, which helped fill the shadows and helped me capture her poses just right.  Here are a few of my favorites so far.

renee_4I still have lots of processing to do but I thought I’d do a few tonight.

I love this one.  She’s so talented.

Here is the entire album.

Baby Kwak has a name!

Holly and Roy welcomed their new baby boy into the world on September 21st – just a day before Holly’s 36th birthday!  He weighed in at 6 pounds, 15 ounces.  I got a quick phone photo from them on the day it happened and then they sorta disappeared for a few days.  It wasn’t until last Friday (9/30) that they finally announced his name: Andrew Tyler.  Apparently he was nameless for the first five days of his life.

Anyway, on Saturday (10/1), Jes and I visited them in their New York apartment.  I got to meet the little guy who was just hanging out on the livingroom bed.  Holly’s mom was also there and was staying with them for a few weeks.  He was very alert and didn’t cry when I held him.  I got a few photos of him while I was there and these were some of my favorites.

Look at how small he is!!!  I always forget how tiny newborns are.

Here’s Andrew up-close.  Is he waving or giving me the Vulcan salute?  So cute!

Here are some cute shots of Holly and Roy with their new son.

And of course, I had to get one with the little guy.  Holly said we looked like a lesbian couple with a new baby.  Haha.

Here are the rest of the photos.

Ranee’s Baby Bump

While I was in New York, I had a portrait session with Ranee and Jamie.  They’re expecting their first child in December!  Ranee had asked me to take some baby bump photos and I was more than happy to do it.  So, I stopped at her apartment last Friday and as we waited for the sun to come through her apartment, we went outside to shoot some photos near the building.  I managed to get a few nice shots and the happy couple was more than excited when they saw the final results.  Phew.  This was my first maternity photo session and I’m glad it went smoothly. I also gotta say that Ranee is one brave mama to be showing off her tummy out in public.  Props to her!

Here’s one I took of her belly out by the pier.  She was bummed that they didn’t have any beaches nearby but was happy to have a shot with some water in the background.  This was my attempt at getting a silhouette with some highlights on her curves.

Here’s one that I took of the two of them just outside of their lobby.  They have a more modern-looking brick wall that was perfect.  I thought they looked really sweet in this photo.

We took a bunch more inside the apartment but they were a little more revealing.  I won’t post those.  Overall, it was a fun session and so nice to be a part of this special time in their life together.
