exhausted

May and June are always busy for me at work but I feel like it’s much worse this year.  Somehow 8 hours pass before I get a chance to sit down at my computer to answer emails.  I’m running from meeting to meeting during the day and going home to write report after report.  I’m simply exhausted.  On top of that, I tweaked my back during an assessment yesterday as I was trying to help a mother control her child.  *sigh*  So, today I managed to leave work early (around 4 pm) for the sake of my sanity.  I’ve been clocking 12-16 hour work days for the past two weeks and needed a break.  In fact, today was my last darkroom class and I surely made the most of it.  I arrived an hour early per the request of my instructor and made a final print of my OC Fair Photo Contest entry.  I also managed to print 3 other photos that I feel may be worthy of framing and hanging in my home.  It’s nice to have something to “escape” to when I’m mentally stretched to the limits.  Hopefully my photo will pass the first round of judging.  I’ll have to cross all my fingers and toes and hold my breath for that to happen.  Nighty night…off to bed now.

almost a month old

We had a family lunch today at Pish and Debbie’s house. My uncle and aunt were in town to visit their granddaughter so we all gathered to have some of my mom’s yummy chicken rice together. Little Katie is almost a month old and looks like such a happy baby. So far she’s been on a pretty regular nap, feeding, and pooping schedule and growing quickly. Unfortunately, I didn’t have much time to get some photos of her before it was nap time but I managed to capture this one. I think she’s going to be a fun subject to photograph over the years. I’ll just have to find another day to continue our photoshoot.

Field Trip!

This afternoon I went on a little field trip with my photog class to Crystal Cove State Beach. It was quite fun with the four of us wandering around the beach taking photos of all the interesting little abandoned shacks, distressed fences, and of course the water. I had a great time lugging around my two camera bodies (one 35mm and one digital) and four lenses. Unfortunately with all the lens changing and kneeling in the sand, I ended up losing one of my lens caps along the way. I think I got some interesting digital shots and hopefully there will be some cool B&W photos on my film rolls.

Check out some of the digital photos I took today.

Meat, good.

We just got back from our annual Mother’s Day prime rib dinner and it sure was yummy. Of course all five of us had to be rolled out the door and into our cars but it sure was worth it.

Here are some snapshots from dinner.

I love my Admin.

About a year ago, I filed a complaint to my Network Admin. I guess it’s a good thing I didn’t fire him after all. Just hours ago, I thought my photos from last night’s party were doomed. Fortunately, I was so distraught that I told my admin as soon as he woke up expecting him to say, “good job, ya dummy”. Instead there was a pleasant turn of events. As I was rolling around on the bed in mid-tantrum saying “They’re gone! They’re gone!”, he calmly said, “Give me your SD Card and reader.” I said, “No way, I deleted them for good! You can’t get them back.” I even sarcastically said, “I’ll give you a dollar if you get them back.” So, I went and got them and with a quick Google search and a couple clicks of his laptop keyboard, my photos were on their way to recovery! Holy crap! This guy’s a genius! And so a year later, my Admin has restored my faith and my photos.

Dear Admin,

You are the bestest admin in the whole wide world! For now, at least.

Love, beakatude

And here are the few photos I took last night.  It was Howard’s Graduation Party but he was so busy chatting-it-up with his 70 guests that I didn’t actually get a photo of him.  I know, I suck.  I’ll just have to wait for the photos that Patti took.

Bowling Party

It’s been three long years for the Wangs but they made it. Howard will be graduating with his MBA degree next month and it’s time to celebrate. With Katie being born right as he started the program, it wasn’t easy for either of them. Patti held down the fort with a new baby and full-time job while Howard worked all day and went to school all night and weekends too. Patti promised to throw Howard a big party when he finished and she certainly did. We joined them at Lucky Strike Lanes in Hollywood and Patti went all out and booked a private room complete with food, drinks, and four bowling alleys. Congratulations, Howard!

It was great to see everyone including all my mother-to-be friends. Juliet, Patti, and Patty are all expecting girls this year. For the first time in my life I actually felt like the smallest girl on the couch. 😉 How sad…

Anyway, I’d share photos with you but the photo above is pretty much all I have from last night. I took a few more but some dummy (me) accidentally deleted all the photos this morning before I could even look at them. I’m still kicking myself as we speak. *sigh*

Update: Now that I’ve recovered my photos, here they are. Enjoy!
