Jack’s Pre-Party

dsc_8434a.jpg

I went to Michelle’s Baby Shower on Saturday afternoon. As I had written in my card to them, I still can’t believe our melter friends are going to be parents. Oh well…I think they’ll figure it all out by the time Jack is 6 months old. Haha. The shower was just down the street from my home at Michelle and Ryan’s loft. It was great to see Michelle and Ryan’s moms so excited about the arrival of the baby. There were games, food, and of course, lots of gifts. The baby is expected to arrive on November 3rd and we should be collecting our $1000 very soon…muhahahaha.

Update (9/30/07): The photos are ready for your viewing pleasure.

Fort FUNston

dsc_8303a.jpg

We met up with Jen, Kevin, and Kona at Fort Funston today. It’s a really nice beach where dogs are allowed to roam off-leash located just south of San Francisco. We strolled down to the beach and Koa did a really nice job staying close-by and responding to our calls. He was a bit hesitant going down to the beach area but seemed fine once he saw all the dogs and running space. Kona showed off her ball-catching skills while Koa chased her back and forth. He almost got tricked into running into the water but applied the brakes just in time. The hike back up was much trickier but everyone made it and got a short workout too. We’ll definitely return to this place very soon. What fun!

Here are photos from our afternoon.

Feast at LuLu

imgp0541.jpgWe took Jes out for his birthday last night. We all walked to LuLu and had a family-style feast. The food was your average SF fare and pretty overpriced but I think Jes had a good time. The highlight of the evening was his Glenlivet with a birthday candle. I think it was much better than any birthday cake we could have gotten for him.

Thanks to everyone for joining us and spending a pretty penny. We’ll make it up to you all with a real dinner at our place very soon. Happy Birthday, Jes!

Here are photos from our dinner.

An Evening at the Ballpark

dsc_8214a.jpg

Susie scored some free tickets to the Giants vs. Dodgers game so we went last night for some tasty baseball food and a little baseball too. It was a comfortable evening with lots of orange-colored people and a sprinkling of Dodger blue. Apparently there’s a pretty brutal rivalry between the two teams and there was a lot of boo-ing and heckling from the stands. We were hoping to watch a couple fights but only witnessed a guy getting escorted out by the cops. I had a Giants dog and some nachos loaded with jalepenos while Susie got a roast beef sandwich from the Carvery. They have some fancy stuff at this ballpark! I got to see this Barry Bonds guy that reportedly hits a lot of homeruns. Nothing spectacular happened last night but it was fun watching him hit the ball and then have the ball caught immediately by the pitcher in the 8th inning. I can see the appeal of going to a baseball game. It’s like a really big and expensive Happy Hour for San Franciscans…it’s too bad that the Giants are in last place. At least they broke their 11-game home losing streak against the Dodgers last night.

Here are some photos from the game. Thanks for taking us, Susie!!

A month later…

dsc_8129.jpg

It’s been a little over a month since I moved up to San Francisco and it’s been exactly one month since we moved into our new condo. We now have furniture, most of the boxes are unpacked, a few frames are up on the walls, and we’ve have made ourselves at home in South Beach. I also finished three weeks at my new job and got my first paycheck on Friday. Woohoo!

The Labor Day weekend was spent relaxing at home, getting the car washed, and running some errands. For the past week or so, I’ve been taking Koa to an isolated strip of grass behind the ballpark and training him to respond to my call when he’s off-leash. This morning I tested him and he came to me 9 out of 10 times. Good Dog! So, we took him to Chrissy Field for his final test today. It was a beautiful sunny day and the field was HUGE! Once we arrived, we let him go and ZOOM! He took off running across the field, leaping, turning, and having a great time. When I called him, he came running. When Jes whistled, he came running. Yay!! What fun! Our little wanker is a little less of a wanker now.

Here is a collection of photos from our first month in SF. Enjoy!

I’m a melter.

We had a fun time in Sequoia this weekend. The weather was much more pleasant than I had anticipated. The weather forecast said it was supposed to be 100 degrees but it wasn’t. The campsite was convenient and had lots of shade. We also got to see lots of really big trees. We visited Auto Log, Tunnel Log, and the General Sherman Tree. I also learned how to play Blokus, which Ryan brought on the trip. Jes hiked 6 miles with the Bangs while I stayed behind with the Sokol-Juns for a mini-hike to some little pools in the stream nearby and played 4 games of Blokus. On Saturday afternoon, as we were touring the different tourist sites, we stopped at Auto Log and I used my little Canon digi to help prop up Michelle’s camera for a group photo. When the photos was taken, I forgot to take it back grab the camera and I didn’t realize it was missing until we were at the next site. To my dismay, it was gone by the time we drove back to the site…*sniff* Oh man, Jes was really mad at me and I was kicking myself the rest of the day. I’m still kicking myself. I filed a report at the Lost and Found but I doubt it will show up. Boo…it had some cool photos that Jes took on his 6-mile hike.

So we’re back in our condo with no furniture, no appliances, and no internet. I’m in the 4th Floor clubhouse again trying to upload some photos. This might take a while.

Oh yeah, it sprinkled today! I can’t believe it was at least 90 degrees in Fresno but in the low 60s as we drove into the SF area.

UPDATE:  Here are the photos from our camping trip.
