It’s a Giant party out here!

The San Francisco Giants actually won the 2010 World Series today.  I’m amazed.  When we moved here over 3 years ago, they were suckin’ and had Barry Bonds hitting lots of homeruns.  Now this team of misfits with long hair and beards have gone all the way and won the Championship.

As soon as it happened, the volume outside went through the roof and the party began outside the condo on King between 2nd and 3rd.  The cops were out in full force and had the street closed to accommodate for all the people spilling out of the bars nearby.

After dinner, we went outside to check out the action and the crowd was surprisingly peaceful and joyous.  Jes, the orange ninja, wore orange to blend in.  It seemed to work since he got a big hug from a very happy fan.  It was pretty humorous.

Here’s a video of the celebration. Pretty wild, huh?

Here are photos from our neighborhood experience.  The energy is certainly contagious.  Congrats, Giants.

Baseball Craziness

We just had Game 2 of the World Series and it’s been crazy out here.

I walked the dog last night and found guys in waterpolo caps in McCovey Cove with an actual waterpolo ball and net.  The water is also filled with boats and kayakers along with cops on jetskis patrolling the area.

I also caught the crazy guy with the sign giving a blessing to a fan.  Pretty funny.

One of the coolest things about AT&T Park is the public viewing area.  Unfortunately there’s a huge line to watch.

The Giants won both games so far so all is well in the neighborhood…just a little rowdy.  By the way, this the view from our front lobby…just in case you didn’t believe how close we live to the World Series.

Eat your veggies!!

It’s recommended that we eat 5-9 servings of fruits and veggies per day and most of us (including myself) don’t really get that far.  In an effort to eat more and also experiment with new ingredients, we signed up for the “Farm Fresh to You” program.  We signed up for the small mixed box for $25 and we opted for once every 4 weeks for now.  Today our first shipment arrived and we got kale, beets!, spinach, apples, pears, green beans, tomatoes, and baby lettuce.

It’s all organic and the produce comes from local farms.  They send whatever is in season at the moment and you hope that you get stuff that you like.  Can’t wait to figure out how to cook the kale and beets.  Anyone have a good recipe?!

Switcharoo

For a while now, we’ve been talking about getting a new couch but it’s just not time yet.  So instead, we moved the furniture around in the livingroom.  One of the best things about rearranging stuff is that you get to clean the floor and vacuum up all the dust and hairballs.  Basically, we rotated the couch and tv around, which opened up the room a bit and we now have a full floor-to-ceiling view of the outside.

The dog still has a cozy nook for his window-side bed and my plants have more light.  Dog also seems to like sitting in front of the window and watching the people below.  We’ve had a week at home with this change and I think I really like it.  I find myself more on the couch instead of the floor and the condo feels bigger.  It’s a nice change without having to spend big bucks on a new couch.

They gave up today.

It’s the 1st of October and my flip-flops finally gave in to their demise.  *sniff*  I was walking the dog this afternoon when I tripped on a crack and they gave up.  I had to walk home with one bare foot.

Looked all over Southern CA for a replacement pair and had no luck. I’m a creature of habit and this was my second pair.  Couldn’t give in to a different style or brand.  If anyone sees these in a store nearby, I wear Sanuk Paydays in Size 8 and black. I’ll pay you back…promise.
