One last Christmas hurrah…

I was getting a little sad because Christmas had passed but got one last day of holiday cheer at the “Merriest Place on Earth”. We went to Disneyland on Thursday to sample some wine, fly over Yosemite Falls, and watch the snow fall. “It’s a Small World” was decorated with Christmas cheer as the dolls sang “Jingle Bells”, which made me feel warm and fuzzy inside. Ah, Christmas has come and gone but we have a new year to look forward to with new challenges and adventures ahead. Goodbye 2004!

Another red blanket!!

We had our annual Christmas Party last night with lots of food and booze. There was a nice showing of friends and we all had a fun time catching up on each other’s lives. This is what I love best about Christmas. Everyone is home and back together again. The gift exchange theme this year was red, which made for some interesting gifts. We had the standard $20 lottery scratchers and martini shakers along with 3 red blankets and a pair of stress boobs…Holly strikes again with the memorable gifts! Now I’m in a slump and sad that Christmas has come and gone so soon. It’s time to take down the lights and put away the ornaments and promise to do something I don’t want to for the next year.

Merry Christmas!!

We had Christmas dinner with the family at our house this year with turkey and all the trimmings. By the end of the night we had eaten until we couldn’t move, torn up and thrown all the wrapping paper on the floor, and watched Sound of Music on TV. I also scored a Game Boy from my brother and new sunglasses from Jesse! I promise I won’t lose either ones…at least I’ll try not to.
My mom also called from Thailand tonight. She was shopping and talking to us on the phone when the really big earthquake hit. She got cut off and called us back after all the chaos. She said that everyone ran to the exits in complete panic. She’s ok though…it’s a good thing she had already returned from the islands in the south. Many tourists died at the beach resorts when the tsunami came 45 minutes after the earthquake.

Fireworks in December?

I had a nice weekend. It was a balmy 80 degrees on Saturday as we got our Christmas tree and Jes cooked a turkey dinner that night. We put up lights on our house this morning and Jay and Nikki, our neighbors, took us to Manhattan Beach Pier tonight to watch fireworks! Apparently, this is an annual thing. We walked along The Strand to check out all the nice beachfront houses and stopped at a place called Harvey Washbangers, a laundromat/pizza parlour…pretty neat concept. We then had dinner at Pancho’s for some Mexican food before dropping Jes off at LAX. Only 5 more days before Winter Break!! Yippee!!

“It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…”

My favorite holiday season is here! The air is cold, the lights are going up, and KOST is playing Christmas songs all month long. Speaking of lights…ever since we moved into this house there was a switch in the garage that didn’t seem to do anything. Jes and I spent a while trying to figure out which outlet it turns on and didn’t have any luck. With the help of my neighbor, I figured out that it turns on a “Christmas light” socket that’s out in front of my house. SWEET! I can string lights up on high on my house and turn them on with a flick of a switch!

Apple Pie vs. Pumpkin Pie

Ah, Thanksgiving…it really has to be the fattest day of the year. Jes made a 21-lb. turkey, Jason bought the ham, and we worked together to get all the fixins made for about 18 people yesterday. Boy oh boy was it yummy – must have been all the butter we used! It was nice to see the family working together throughout the day to prepare the dinner and I was so happy to see Victor, Susie, and Dayantha. We ate, played poker, watched movies , and played videogames until the wee hours of the night. By the way, the apple pie won but it was a close race.
