The holidays are here!

I think the holidays sort of crept up on us this year. I knew it was around the corner but just realized that Thanksgiving was this coming week. Apparently Jes was in Azeroth for too long to notice too because when I said we needed to buy our turkey he said, “Why?”. And when I told him that Thanksgiving was this Thursday, he said “What?! This Thursday?!”

So on Sunday, we went to the meat store to purchase the prime rib and fresh turkey. We also heard our first Christmas song of the year. This has to be a record. It was weird but also made me a little giddy. We have cousins in town this week so we’re having a cousin dinner on Wednesday night. On Thursday night, we’re having the parents and extended family over for turkey. And then on Saturday, we’re meeting up with Jimmy, Huy, and Holly for Thai food. Phew! To kick it all off, Jes and I went for a quick jog this evening in preparation for all the gluttony. I love this time of year.

Hurry up and snow!!

Mammoth

This is my favorite time of year.  My two most favorite holidays are coming up, it’s nippy in the morning, and it’s going to start snowing soon!!  It’s SkiDazzle weekend and I’m hoping to check it out.  Anyone want to go?!  With paid admission you get a free pass to Summit or Bear.  If only it would just cool down and start dumping.  I know you’ve all seen this video but I had to bring it back to get you all pumped up.  The video has music so if you’re at work, put your headphones on!  Get your boards/skis waxed, goggles and beanie out of the closet, and put those racks back on the car!!  It’s almost that time!!

my new 5 million dollar home

Jesse and I celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary today and Jesse got me special present. He called it an anniversary/belated birthday gift. It came in a fancy birthday bag with ribbon and everything! Anyway, when I opened it, I found my Crumpler 5 Million Dollar Home! Awesome! It’s the camera bag that I’ve wanted for months and now my Nikon has padding. Sweet….just in time for our trip to Monterey this weekend.

We had dinner at Houston’s tonight and had a lovely time. The only bump in the road was my favorite tuna salad. They changed it on me!! It’s still has really fresh tuna, mango, and avocado. But now it’s missing the greens, ginger, and miso dressing. Now it has a bunch of mint (which I hate), carrots, jicama, and cilantro. *sigh* I guess I’ll have to start ordering the ribs from now on. Heh Heh. The best part of dinner was, of course, the key lime pie. Oh yeah…

And yep, we’re going to Monterey this weekend to visit the fishies again. We’re also leaving Koa Bear with Johnny for two days. Haha. It should be interesting…right, Brother?!

Monkey and Dragon Loot the Town

DSC_0960.jpgMarie brought Cole over and we met up with my neighbor Khai and her 14-month-old boy Lance. We went Trick-or-Treating together this evening and what an adventure it was! Our little monkey and dragon went to about six houses and collected quite a loot! Since it was their first Trick-or-Treat outing, there was some confusion at first. Eventually, they figured out that when the door opens, you stick your hand in a bowl and grab as many colorful wrappers as you can. Cole insisted on tearing into one of the chocolate wrappers and got his first taste of chocolate. It sure was tough prying it out of his hands after that. Lance seemed to enjoy his first real Halloween and hanging out with his new friend Cole. They were so adorable in their pudgy-looking outfits. Here are the photos.

Thanks for the Magical House

It’s my Mommy’s birthday today.  We had cake at the cousins’ house on Saturday and took her out for steak at Kincaid’s in Redondo Beach on Sunday night.  We all had steak, prime rib, or BBQ ribs and Mommy had a birthday creme brulee, which she wasn’t a fan of.  We helped her finish it and also tried their key lime pie…yum yum.  Anyway, I wanted to thank my Mommy for all the home-cooked meals, trips to the mall, wake-up calls, and worrying for me when I’m still in “La La Land”.  The Magical House wouldn’t exist without you.  Happy Birthday, Mommy.  You rock.

The next drink is on me.

On my 4th birthday, I was happily enjoying my birthday party at Preschool when my Dad arrives early to pick me up. Wha? I have to leave my own birthday party RIGHT NOW?! Apparently, there was something much more important. Bah…what could be more important than my birthday party? Well, in the car we drove and to the hospital we went. My brother was born on my birthday. Oh great, talk about stealing thunder. I think the worst part of that day was that back then, children weren’t allowed on the ward. So, while my dad got to visit my mom and new baby brother, I was stuck in the waiting room…probably still wearing my birthday hat.

Well, 27 years later, my brother is a big boy, has an apartment on the Westside, runs his own company, and gets to go to XGames for free. Not too shabby. Luckily for me, my little brother is the coolest little brother a girl can have and sharing a birthday with him is actually pretty cool. This year, we’re going to take a little trip together…just the two of us for the first time. Funny that it’s taken this long to do this. Anyway, Happy Birthday, Little Brother. The next drink is on me.
