The Old Guys

Both Bang and Ryan turned 34 this month and they were celebrated within about a week of each other. We went out for Happy Hour two Fridays ago for Bang’s and then dinner last night for Ryan’s.

Happy Birthday, Old Guys!

It’s like a puppy tree!

This evening on my way home, I picked Jes up from work and he suggested that we stop at the tree lot.  Yay!  So with only about 50 bucks in hand, we went on a search for this year’s tree.  In an effort to be frugal this year, I finally got to buy one of the smaller Charlie Brown trees.

You really gotta love a tree that you can throw in the trunk.  It was short, fat, costed 20 bucks, and perfect.  I had to choose my ornaments wisely this year and thankfully there was enough room for each of our annual ornaments and a few standard ones.

‘Tis the season!!

Missing the Rockstar and a Tob

On Sunday evening, two thirds of Roebling got together for an extra special Sunday Supper.  G and Dena traveled across the country to spend Thanksgiving on the west coast and they brought their little guy Andersen.

He’s only 6 weeks older than Jack so it was really fun to watch the two of them play side-by-side.

Ryan prepared a standing rib roast with yorkshire pudding and we brought over mashed potatoes and creamed corn.  In fact, I made Lawry’s creamed corn from a recipe I found on the interwebs!!  Yum yum!

We all sat around the table eating off of the Sokol-Juns’ bone china wishing that Joel and Tob were also there.  It was so nice to catch up with old friends over good food.  It definitely a pleasant way to end my Thanksgiving weekend.

Here are the rest of the photos.

Holiday Eats

To officially kick off the holiday season, I decided to bake instead of shop.  So, on Black Friday, I made coffee cake and banana nut muffins. Tasty.

This was also the perfect way to show off one of the new monkey plates that I got for my birthday from Michelle.  Aren’t the monkeys cute?!

In the afteroon, I went to the bakery and bought a huge loaf of crusty French bread.  They sliced it for me and it was perfect for turkey berry sammiches!  One of the best things about Thanksgiving is all the leftovers.  I added sliced turkey breast, stuffing, and my homemade cranberry relish.

Turkey and Pepsi

Thanksgiving was spent in SF this year, which initially bummed me out but ended up being almost as satisfying.  Jes made his annual feast and I always find it endearing when I see Jes sitting in front of the oven spying on his precious turkey.

We had the Masayas over this year and they came with Smush and Diesel.  Koa had a good time having company around and being able to enjoy the bounty of treats that were handed out that evening.  One thing that I couldn’t get over was how Diesel looked so much like Pepsi.  The most familiar to me was his black head and little splotch of white on top.  He was just as cuddly but since he’s an indoor dog, he didn’t have that distinct stinkiness that Pepsi had.  I guess that’s a good thing.  Rob and Kelly take very good care of him.  It just made me miss all my doggies who have now passed.
