“Sorry, we’re booked.”

With all the rain and snow we figured that a trip to Mammoth was in order. Unfortunately, I had never been there and didn’t realize how hard it is to get a place to stay on weekends. So, we’re staying in Bishop, which is 40 miles away for a cool $59/night! What a deal! It’ll make up for the ridiculously expensive lift tickets at Mammoth Mountain. I hope it starts to snow a bit more down here too. We need to use our discount Snow Valley tickets soon. The plan is to go on Saturday, February 5th…anyone want to go?!

The sun is back!!

It has been sunny and warm this weekend and we took full advantage of it. On Saturday, we took Koa to the dog park. I also did some gardening/pruning out in the patio while Jes cleaned out the filter in the fish pond. This morning I went for a 22-mile bike ride with Jes and our two neighbors. Irvine is an awesome place for bicyclists!! The bike trail is well-paved and by-passes all the street lights. It was a good workout and a great way to enjoy the Southern California weather that I forgot about.

huffing and puffing

It’s the new year and time to get back into running. I only ran once in the past 3 weeks and I can feel it. So, I went out for a 20-minute run up and around the hill with the dog and made me feel a little better. I think I slept better too. Anyway, I started a running log and hopefully it will keep me on track. I don’t have a race in mind yet but I’m thinking of going for a time goal. If I decide not to train for a race at least I’ll be stronger for the skiing!!

Black Diamond?!

We took a road trip to Tahoe with the doggie in the backseat. It was pretty fun but the drive took 12 hours due to sucky LA traffic, some crazy fog on I-5, and a little detour to the Sacramento airport to pick up Jason. We went snowboarding and skiing at Kirkwood on Saturday with the group but ended up separated from the pack after getting tricked into going down a black diamond run. I tumbled down the hill quite a bit and couldn’t control my skis. When I got to the bottom, I discovered my right boot was unbuckled. NO WONDER!! Anyway, the rest of the day went just fine and Jes and I had a good time. Koa got to play in the snow, wrestle a black lab, and hardly ate. When we got home last night, he was pooped and went straight to bed. I guess we all had a crazy weekend.

Who’s dog is this?

I had a nice relaxing weekend at home. Tidied up the house, did some laundry, and shopped for new work clothes. The pup came back from “puppy summer camp” on Saturday night and seemed a little depressed…he must miss his friends. Anyway, I don’t know how Patty did it but he came back a new puppy – no biting, so calm, and well-behaved. Had dinner with Jes’ parents at Houston’s for Jes’ belated birthday on Saturday and went shopping on Sunday.

I started my half marathon training today. I took a nice 20-minute jog with the dog and wore him out. Poor thing was panting for 30 minutes after we got back. Staying home is getting old. I can’t wait to get my license back!
