I love my bag!

p1010856a.jpg

My friend Eleen, the girl that Jimmy was lucky enough to snag, has started her own line of bags. Her work is amazing and I’m still in awe of her talent. This is also a girl that pretty much made everything for her wedding, which included stationery, favors, and even her own wedding gown!! So, I was browsing her site, eleen.com, and found the cutest “skip around town bag” that I just HAD TO HAVE. When I told her that I wanted to buy it, she offered to make me my very own as a gift for helping with her wedding.  Aw…so sweet.

So on Friday, Eleen gave it to Jimmy who then delivered it to Jesse who then brought it home to me and I proudly wore my first eleen bag all weekend long. Check it out…

It’s made of ballistic nylon with an over-the-shoulder strap and made with the cutest fabric that has the Sho Chiku Bai rice bag design on it.

On top of that, get a load of all the cool details put into it: a lip balm/pen holder, inner pocket, and key latch. It also has a secret pocket on the side (see the zipper on the right?) to stash your phone, BART pass, or maybe some weed…haha, just kidding.

So, she’s still just a one-girl show working from home but if you want to check out what she has in stock, go directly to eleen.com or her online shop at etsy.com.  Kate Spade had better watch out.

cute notes

As many of you know, I’m a sucker for good design so I’ve added a category that will feature some of my favorite stuff.

A few years ago, an old friend and co-worker of mine gave me some stationery.  One of the items was a four-pack of notepads.  I thought they were simply too cute to use but I’ve finally opened the package and have a new appreciation for them.  It’s complete with a front flap that tucks neatly into the bottom flap, a small pencil with a little holder at the crease, and each page is perforated at the bottom for easy tearing.

I Love Friday Nights.

Ah…it’s Friday and I’m lovin’ it. I’ve said this time and time again and I’ll say it again. Friday evening is my favorite-est time of the week. What’s even better is a Friday with a a 3-day weekend following it. And whaddayaknow, today is one of those Fridays. Yes!

Anyway, I was sipping my hot chocolate and admiring one of my favorite cups…my “Loner Monkey Cup”. I call him a loner because I have another mug that has a bunch animals on it, which I’ve named the “Friends Cup”. They both hold my morning coffee and evening hot chocolate quite well and keep me smilin’.

Project 4: Supa Dupa Gangsta Ducky Hat

DSC_3774.jpgDSC_3777.jpg

Last week, I learned how to make a stockinette stitch. It basically involves knitting a row, then purling a row, and so on. Yesterday, I started to make a hat that would fit a small child but I got tired and kept having to fix my work. So, I unraveled it and went to sleep. Tonight, instead of starting over, I made a mini-hat just so I could practice the pattern without stressing myself out. Coincidentally, duckie was willing to be my model and boy does the hat fit well. Doesn’t he look fly in his new gangsta hat?

Project 3: Super Duper Coin Purse

Ta Da!! After finishing my 3rd coaster, I learned how to make a button hole and voila…a coin purse!!

It has a fully-functional button and button hole and will hold a chunk of change!!

I’m soooo taking this to Disneyland tomorrow! Penny Arcade, here I come!

I’m a fan.

I hate vacuuming. It hurts my ears. It’s stinky. It’s heavy. And the results are never worth the amount of physical labor it requires.

dysonFor the past few months, we’ve considered purchasing our very own dyson. Each time we go to Costco, we pass the vacuum aisle and debate whether it’s really worth $469.99. Victor and Susie got it a while back and were totally raving about it but still, it’s a vacuum! Well, after I tried to vacuum the house on Friday, I was a little frustrated with the results of my hard work and seriously reconsidered the possible purchase. Today, we went to Costco and finally forked over the money for our very own dyson DC14 full kit and didn’t look back. We were skeptical at first but boy has it changed my attitude towards vacuuming. For example, I just vacuumed our livingroom rug on Friday afternoon and today (Sunday), it managed to pick up another half a canister of fur! Wow…either our old vacuum wasn’t doing anything or my dog is shedding a lot. Speaking of fur, we also tried to vacuum the dog but he wasn’t a fan. Later, even Jesse got into the fun and vacuumed the fur out of the back of my car and the entire second floor of our house. I can totally imagine a commercial where some housewife says, “Dyson saved our marriage!”

A couple more things and I’ll shut up…it has some really cool attachments that snap to the side or top of the machine, it’s less hurty to my ears than the old vacuum, and because it has a Hepa filter it doesn’t smell!! OK. I’m a fan.
