I gave in.

While we were in Hawaii, Jes couldn’t stop talking about how awesome it would be to have an iPad for reading, surfing the internet, and watching movies on vacation.  He went on and on and on and I fought back with “you don’t need it you don’t need it you don’t need it”.  Unfortunately, I’m a sucka for good design and gadgets so I eventually gave in and secretly ordered one for him as soon as we got back.  When I picked him up after a hard day at work, I surprised him with my order confirmation email and it sure did lighten his spirits.

On Tuesday, I got an email notifying me that it was shipped (from China!!) and it arrived via FedEx yesterday.  Wow, that’s fast!

This morning Jes picked up the package from the Association office (they accepted and signed for us) and he broke open the box this evening.  It’s gorgeous and so much fun for surfing and reading.  Jes downloaded the Netflix app and it’s ready for On Demand movie watching.  I went into the app store and downloaded a few books for myself and searched for some free games.

Yes yes…we’re suckers…and now we have another Apple product added to our ever-growing gadget family.

Creative and kinda Crazy

For those of you who know me, I LOVE LOVE LOVE “My Neighbor Totoro“.  Well, last summer, Miyazaki released a new movie called “Ponyo” and I FINALLY got to watch it.  It came in the mail today and I watched it right away with such delight.  I sat on the couch in my PJs with a blanket on my lap and a frozen strawberry bar in hand and felt like I was 5 again.  I had no idea what to expect of the movie since the trailer makes it look a little creepy but it was so much more fun and was a little crazy at the same time.  In the same “Totoro” style, there’s an intermingling of reality and fantasy and a lot of innocence.  On top of that, I absolutely adore hand-drawn animation and Miyazaki is THE best. Ah…I can go to bed happy now.

Raaawwrr!

One of my favorite photo websites is Photojojo and they sell a bunch of really cool products. Another cool thing about the company is that when you receive your order in the mail, it comes with a tiny dinosaur! Well, in my last order there was no dino. Boo… So I emailed them last week to find out whether or not it was included in all the packages or just random ones. Just so happens that they ran out of dinos and they sent my order without it so that it wouldn’t be delayed. AND THEN they offered to send me a dino now since they had more of them in stock. So today in the mail I received not only one but TWO!!! Call me silly but I was so excited to get teeny tiny dinosaurs in the mail. They made me smile.

Puddles!!!

This morning the rain came down pretty hard and I still had the task of walking the dog. It was the perfect opportunity to test out my new rain boots!!!

I bought them on sale at Sports Basement and they’re awesome!  Here’s a link to them if you wanted details.

I took the dog and the waterproof camera outside for some rainy day fun.  I guess I was the only one actually having fun. Dog was super confused by all the jumping and wading through the deep puddles.

Collect them all!

mini cards

I’ve had some photo referrals and inquiries from friends and co-workers lately and have felt kinda dumb not having anything to give them.  So, I went online and ordered these really cute mini business cards with my contact info on one side and a snazzy photo taken by yours truly on the other.  They arrived in the mail last Saturday and I was so happy to see them!  They come packaged in a sturdy little box and I also got a card holder for free!

Craft/Bake Sale Success

tissue covers

mango sticky rice

On Thursday we had our Annual PediRehab Craft & Bake Sale.  I made tissue pack covers and cute little mango sticky rice shooters.  I sold 9/12 tissue covers and 45/50 sticky rice shooters for a total of $90!  Woo!!  Our sale was a success and we made a net profit of a little over $2800 towards our activity fund.  Sweet!

happy hour

After work, a small group of us went out to Marc 49 for a little celebratory happy hour.  It was such as relief to have the sale behind us and we had a very therapeutic evening of laughing and sipping wine.
