next door

p1010831a.jpg

Two great things have come together for us this week…Bruins Bball and a sports bar that’s just next door to where I live. It also doesn’t hurt that Bud Light came in a bucket at 5 for $15.  So, last night we headed over to watch the Sweet 16 games last night and there was a huge Bruins gathering complete with UCLA sweatshirts and 8-claps.

The Sokol-Juns tried to join us but the bar was way too loud for little Jack so they came in to say “hi” and left. Boo…too bad.

Anyway, it was nice to see that we once again squeaked our way up the ladder and now I can return to the “Tav” tomorrow afternoon for another heart-wrenching game.

baby timer

Michelle called me the other day and offered to take me along on her Target run.  It was a nice little outing but definitely much shorter than I would normal stay.  Since we had Jack in tow, we were shopping on his time schedule.  Fortunately, we made it all the way around the store just as he was starting to get grumpy.  Shopping on baby time can be challenging but it can also be loads of fun.

At home with House

dsc_2332.jpg

Weekends are so great. Sometimes the best ones are when you spend them at home in your PJs. It was raining outside so I stayed indoors for most of this one. I took care of some house chores and played with my computer while watching the entire Season 2 of House. I watched episodes here and there before but there’s something very satisfying about watching all the episodes in order with no commercials.

This evening, after two days of hanging out at home, we went to Michelle and Ryan’s for dinner and to watch the Oscars. I consider it like the Super Bowl of entertainment. I watch it because everyone else does even though I have no idea who is involved each year and who has a chance of winning. Ryan tried to trump Jes’ super-whitey Pot Roast dinner from last week with ribs and corned beef with cabbage, which were all very good. We also got to see Jack who was showing off some of his new tricks like opening his mouth really big instead of laughing out loud. Check out these other photos of Jack that evening.

Spunky Kiddo

Last Sunday, we gathered at Jimmy and Eleen’s house for a post-wedding celebration. Yong and Helen brought their 2-year-old daughter, Cara, and she was a hoot! From the minute she arrived, she burst into the house and went straight for each an every one of the 4 dogs that were in the house.

She’s quite a mover and loves to climb on people, crawl under tables, and give hugs to everyone including the dogs. She’s also quite a ham when it comes to taking photos, so I got lots of practice.

Oh, one more thing.  We took photos for the bet between Victor and Yong.  The person who loses the greatest percentage of weight by May will get a new iPhone with a full year of service paid for.

Here are more photos from the afternoon.

Sidekick Koa keeping his eye on Little Dude

On Sunday evening, I babysat Jack while his parents went to a wedding. He was a little fussy but it was fine. In fact, within 4 hours, he managed to take 2 1/2 naps, pooped twice, and finished a bottle of Mommy Juice. Koa also helped out with his super hearing. Jack slept in the bedroom and as soon as he started to wimper or cry, Koa would run to the door to check out the scene. Good work, Sidekick!

Family Fun Day at the Dentist

dsc_0273a.jpg

Yesterday, I went to see my dentist. He happens to be my cousin. He opened his office on a Sunday for me, Jesse, Johnny, and Jason. It was awesome. Pish brought Debbie and Katie for our entertainment and Joy also come along for kicks. We all got X-Rays taken along with a cleaning and polishing. Johnny and I got some extra special treatment with a filling each. *sigh* Vulnerable teeth seem to run in the family.

We had a good time just spending time with each other and watching each other get poked and scraped in the mouth. It was also nice to see Katie again after so many months. She’s growing so fast and seems to like Uncle Johnny quite a bit.

Afterwards we had lunch in Irvine. My anesthetic had worn off by then but Johnny was still struggling to chew and not drool all over himself. It was quite a sight. Anyway, thanks again, Dr. Chamkasem!! You rock!

Here are photos from our morning with Katie and the gang.
