Big Boys

Marie and the rest of the Sumino clan came up to SF for the weekend. It was so fun to spend the day with them and play with Cole just like I used to before moving up here.  Marie and Kenji look great and seem to travel rather well with two boys.

Brandon is growing quickly and he’s such an easy-going baby who smiles every time I call him name. I took them to the park across from my house, gave them the 2-second tour of our condo, and we had Dim Sum in the afternoon.

Cole is such a big boy now at 3 years of age and I couldn’t get over home much he talks now. I guess I’m still used to the little 18-month-old that ran around pulling the DVDs off my shelves. He still loves Koa and Koa actually remembered him. Once they got back to our house, Cole chased him around and fed him carrots. I guess a friendship between a boy and dog really does endure the test of time.

Here are a few photos from our afternoon.

Robert & Kelly’s Wedding

Robert and Kelly got married yesterday in Newport Beach and it was a beautiful and emotional outdoor ceremony followed by an indoor reception complete with an open bar and dancing. Everything was covered in pink and white with touches of brown everywhere.  Gorgeous.  Unfortunately, I wasn’t sitting in the best seat for taking photos during the ceremony so I actually didn’t take as many as I would have liked.  However, once I decided to put the camera down for the night, I was able to enjoy the event as a guest and not as a roving photog, which was a nice change.

The reception had lots of bells and whistles including a photobooth (that the boys almost broke when they crammed everyone in at once), chocolate covered strawberries, and a wedding cake with two tiny Star Wars figurines on top.  Victor’s Best Man speech went well and resulted in Robert showing off his Rubik’s Cube skills in front of all the guests.

It was so nice to not only be outside in the warm Southern California evening but to also be surrounded by old friends as well.  I also got to meet little Elise, Ti and Thilan’s 2-month-old baby girl.  Unfortunately, she cried everytime I held her.  Boo…  The evening was a hoot and we even finished it off with a trip to Denny’s.

Morning Walk

This morning as I was putting on my shoes to take Koa for his am walk, I got a call from Michelle who was out with Jack. So, we met up at the ballpark and took a very pleasant walk down Embarcadero with Koa on a leash and Jack in his stroller. It was a beautiful Saturday morning in SF and we all got a nice long walk. I brought my new camera with me and got a couple of shots in.

Jack got a kick out of watching Koa doing his “business” and I got a cute shot of his two new bottom teeth.

Patti and Howard are in town this weekend for a wedding and brought Katie with them. We met up at the Ferry Plaza this morning to hang out and taste all the yummy samples together. Katie started out pretty shy, as usual, but once she got some tasty treats, she perked up quickly. In fact, she couldn’t stop smiling with the purple jelly tucked away in her cheek for the rest of the morning. It was great to see them again after so many months away from LA.

Afterwards, the Sokol-Juns arrived. We wandered around and tasted some pretty awesome nectarines, apricots, and cheeses. Jack even got a little taste of nectarine for himself before passing out in the stroller. Later, Jes showed up and we had some lunch at Hog Island to round off the morning.

Surprise!

I was sorting through my photos and totally forgot that I took this video of Katie. It was taken at Ishya and Billy’s a few weeks ago. So cute.

Weekend Roundup

I had a pretty full and relaxing weekend. The sun was out and lots of stuff was happening. On Saturday, Jes and I went to the North Beach Festival to have some lunch with friends and to take in the sights and sounds. We got some drinks at the beer garden, ate in the patio of a cute little Italian restaurant, and even scored $20 of zipcar credit and t-shirts. Here are photos from the afternoon festivities.

Today, I went to see Sex in the City with Susie and enjoyed it. It was a cute and very sappy movie that was perfect for a Sunday afternoon. This evening I finished up my photos for last week’s wedding while I watched a nail-biting Lakers/Celtics Game 5. It wasn’t a pretty win but a win is a win.

I also managed to get up early for class both on Saturday morning and this morning to get my butt kicked twice this weekend. I’m starting to feel soreness in muscles that I didn’t know existed so this had better pay off.
