What a good boy.

Last night I babysat Jack and he was quite the entertainer.  When I arrived, he was a little whiny as if he knew that his parents were about to leave.  Fortunately for me, he quickly forgot about them once they left.  We read books, he played the piano for me, he pushed his wagon around the house, and he also showed me how he likes to harass the cats.  It was all very cute.

By 8 pm, he walked over to the baby gate in front of his room and seemed to signal that he wanted to go inside.  I guess it was time for bed.  I grabbed his warmed bottle and we sat down for “Goodnight Moon”.  Then I plopped him into his crib and he turned on his sleeping music.  I tucked him into his sleeping sack and gave him his bottle.  Just as Ryan said, he downed the bottle in just a couple minutes and gave me his sleepy eyes.  I gave him his horsie blankie, said “goodnight”, and turned off the light.  He immediately whined loudly and tried to stand up at the rail but he quickly began talking to himself and mouthing his blanket for the next couple minutes.  Soon enough he was out like a light and the rest of the evening was a piece of cake.  Perhaps he knew that it was his mommy’s birthday and had to be on his best behavior or maybe he’s just a good boy.  I’ll never know but at least he was an angel that night that I was in charge.

Double Memory Lane

Yesterday I had to take the day off from work to go to Employee Health and HR for my teaching job.  It was the first time I was back on campus since graduation 7 years ago and it was pretty neat to wander around the halls again.  In between my two appointments, I stopped in on the first day of class.  I was asked to stand in front of about 40 grad students and introduce myself to everyone, which was a little weird.  I guess it’s a good thing that I’m not scheduled to give my two lectures until mid-November.  I should know everyone by then.

That same afternoon, I was pleasantly surprised to receive a letter from Yoon!  It said that she was cleaning her apartment and found some old photos that she’s been holding onto for 7 years.  Along with the letter were several photos of the day that Jes proposed to me, which also happened to be on my graduation from OT school.  What a great way to accompany my walk down memory lane.  Thanks for the photos, Yoon!!

Summer Homework

I’ve been working with a 2nd grader on his handwriting these past couple months.  He’s on a month-long vacation this month and I gave him “homework”.  I like to call it “suggested home program activities”.  Ha.  Anyway, one of his assignments was to write me a letter every Wednesday and mail it to me.  A week and a half passed and I totally didn’t think I’d get a letter.  But, I was wrong.  In my mailbox at work this afternoon was a handwritten letter from my little pen pal Max.  Sweet.  And looking at his writing…we’ve got some work to do when he gets back.  🙂

I’m getting a sister!

This morning Brother called to tell me that he proposed to Joy on Sunday night at Disneyland!!!! Woohoo!! It sounds like it was a total surprise to her and she couldn’t stop laughing. Hm…sounds a lot like how I reacted when I was proposed to…

Anyway, she said “yes” and I’m getting a little sister! Congratulations, you two!!

Poor Ducky

I woke up on Wednesday morning to find the aftermath of a massacre that apparently occurred the night before. Poor Ducky Tennis Ball got to’ up! Squeakers are crackalicious for Koa and this ducky didn’t have a fighting chance.
