Bring on the margaritas!!

After a hard day at work and a crazy hill run, there’s nothing like a bowl of chips and guac paired with a cold margarita. In the spirit of Cinco de Mayo, we’re making tacos with all the fixings and drinking margaritas until we fall asleep on the couch.

4 days HAS to be a record

My brother and I took care of our Mother’s Day stuff today and were mighty proud of ourselves. It isn’t unusual for us to call each other on the day before Mother’s Day or Father’s Day asking, “Uh, did you get something for Mommy yet?” Well, this year, he made reservations AND bought the gift today – and it’s only Wednesday! Nice. I also made dinner reservations for Jes’ mom and we also took care of her gift on Monday. What is going on?! Now I can see why people don’t procrastinate! We should get crackin’ on Father’s Day…heh.

beef, gooood.

One of our new year’s resolutions is to eat beef only once per week and this week’s featured item was PRIME RIB! I’m not sure how people can be vegetarians but I only had a portion smaller than a deck of cards (the recommended serving size, by the way) and it was sooooo yummy. It’s a good thing I went for a run this afternoon.
In other news, I recently discovered the phenomenon called Nordstrom Rack. I have a bunch of friends who love to shop there but I never got around to it. Yes, I’m a bit late but so glad I finally got to go! It’s like Marshalls but even better! Who can beat a pair of $6 Reef slippas and $11 Roxy dress?! Too bad I won’t be going to Key West as we planned. Stupid United has restrictions on the number of free flights they will allow and they were all booked. Could it be the NBA Playoffs? Maybe. All I know is that I can’t get to Miami without spending an arm and a leg. Boo…no Key Lime Pie for me.

Water sucks.

The weather was great this weekend so we went to the dog park on Saturday. Koa didn’t really enjoy the water. In fact, he hates water. While the labs are jumping into the waves and having a great time, Koa stands along around and runs away from the tide. At one point, he got so mad at us for throwing him in that he threatened to run back up the cliff and into the street. Crazy pup. Later that night, Patty and Johnny brought Mochi over on their way back down to San Diego. The dogs had a gay ol’ time while we ate dinner.
Today, we went to Carlsbad to have lunch with Huy. We ate at Pizza Port where we had really good pizza and spicy wings. Afterwards we took a walk around their Village Fair. It was basically like a swap meet full of people hocking their wares for a few bucks. There were way too many people and way too much junk for one afternoon.

You’re gonna hate me tomorrow.

Jes’ goal this year is to ride a Century. My cousin, Pish, happens to be training for the same thing but is a little ahead in mileage. The other day, he called Jes and invited him to go along on long ride today. Jes, with only 25 miles under his belt, agreed and off they went. They started in Aliso Viejo, went through Santiago Canyon (really hilly), past our house in Irvine, and ended up back at Pish’s house for a total of 50 miles. Woo hoo!! You’re half-way there, guys!!

Happy Birthday, Koa!

Today is Koa’s 1st birthday! We didn’t do anything special. I just got him a birthday hat and had a fun time trying to get him to tolerate it on his head for long enough to take a picture. It’s amazing how quickly he grew and how much he’s changed. Jes always gets so angry when he walks around the house and sees “reminders” of his puppy days…a scratch on the sofa leg, teeth marks on the wall, shredded carpet, etc. Now he’s calmer, doesn’t try to tear holes in my pant legs, can hold his pee all day long, and goes to bed at 10:00 each night. Only 12 more years to go!!
